Return to Artist List

In 2004 Romanho started to work in a community art project entitled “Umbrellas for Peace,” teaching children the importance of world peace in school workshops.

In 2005 Romanho created “Planet Peace USA,” an organization whose mission is to collect funds to do workshops with children and let them express themselves in a joyous way about world peace.

Romanho has shown his work in several galleries and venues. In November 2006, he was chosen as one of the few emerging artists in Dallas to exhibit his work in the exclusive art gallery at the Palomar Hotel. During the same month, the corporate office of Exhale in New York City, purchased one of Romanho’s paintings to display in their executive offices, and In May 2007, the Hollywood star Queen Latifah met Romanho and acquired three paintings for her private art collection.

Romanho is an artist who has a keen interest in the Byzantine and Roman styles of Mosaic art. His work stands out because of its subtlety of color, flecks of gold and ancient matter. His bold technique immediately caught the attention of art galleries around the country. Agora Gallery in New York City said about Romanho: “Romanho’s mixed media incorporates abstract and figurative elements, texture through the use of natural materials, and brilliant colors to convey feeling and expression. In perspective, the work taunts the eye of the tradition with a unique presentation and emotive nuance that resonates throughout the entire presentation.” Romanho works on specially treated newsprint: “I love graffiti,” he says. “My paintings become a piece of wall with lots of texture and color. It is my way of communicating with the world.”
